Chapter 11 - The Woman in WhiteVivian heard the sentence three times before it made sense.

The woman in white.

At first, she thought of nurses. Then lawyers. Then the white dress Helena had been buried in.

But Clara whispered the answer.

“Aunt Celeste.”

Vivian turned.

“Who?”

“Daddy’s sister.”

Vivian stared.

Arthur had never mentioned a sister.

Robert frowned. “Arthur had a sister?”

Reyes looked through her notes.

“Celeste Sterling. Public record says she died at age sixteen in a boating accident.”

Clara shook her head.

“She didn’t die.”

Reyes went still.

Clara slid off the couch and walked to her backpack. Inside were the things she had taken from Helena’s safe: envelopes, flash drives, one small gold key.

She pulled out a photograph.

A young woman stood beside Helena Sterling in a garden. She wore a white coat, like a doctor or researcher, and her smile was beautiful enough to seem harmless.

On the back, Helena had written:

Celeste is the only one Arthur fears more than truth.

Vivian felt cold spread through her arms.

“Where is she?”

Clara looked at Reyes.

“Grandma said she lives where sick people become secrets.”

Reyes’s face tightened.

“A private psychiatric facility.”

Vivian’s throat closed.

Because Arthur had threatened her with the same thing for years.

He had told her no one would believe her. He had told her he would have doctors sign papers. He had told her Sterling women who lost control were sent away to rest.

Reyes made a call.

Within an hour, they had a name.

Whitehaven Wellness Center.

A luxury mental health facility two counties over, owned through shell companies tied to Sterling Global.

Vivian wanted to be surprised.

She was not.

By noon, federal agents entered Whitehaven.

By one, they found a locked private wing that did not appear on any public map.

By two, Detective Reyes called Vivian.

“We found Celeste Sterling.”

Vivian gripped the phone.

“And?”

Reyes exhaled.

“She’s alive.”

Clara stood beside her mother, listening.

Reyes continued.

“But Vivian… she isn’t a prisoner.”

Vivian frowned.

“What do you mean?”

“She runs the facility.”

That evening, Celeste Sterling walked into the interview room wearing a white suit, pearl earrings, and a calm smile.

She looked younger than Arthur, colder than Mason, and more dangerous than both.

Her eyes moved first to Clara.

“My beautiful niece,” Celeste said. “Helena always did underestimate you.”

Vivian stepped between them.

Celeste smiled wider.

Then she looked at the camera in the corner of the room.

“I assume this is being recorded.”

Reyes sat across from her.

“Yes.”

“Good.”

Celeste folded her hands.

“Then let me be clear. Arthur Sterling is not the monster in this family.”

Vivian’s skin prickled.

May you like

Celeste leaned forward.

“He is the failed experiment.”
