Chapter 10 - A New SunriseThree months later.

The morning sun streamed through the large bay window of my living room, casting warm golden light across the hardwood floor.
Maya was sitting on a soft play mat, laughing as she reached for a colorful wooden rattle. She was thriving—heavy, healthy, hit every physical milestone early, and filled with endless infant joy. Her pediatrician had declared her completely healthy, her growth chart now sitting comfortably at the 75th percentile.
My mother came into the kitchen, placing two hot mugs of fresh coffee on the counter. "The real estate agent called. The house transfer is officially recorded. It’s 100% yours now, sweetheart."
"Thanks, Mom," I smiled, taking a sip of coffee. "For everything."
"You did this, Sarah," my mother said softly, looking at me with immense pride. "You protected your child when the person who was supposed to stand by you turned into the enemy. You are stronger than you ever knew."
My phone chimed on the counter. It was a notification from my bank—my return-to-work bonus and promoted position at my firm had just been finalized. My company had not only stood by me after Victoria cleared my name, but they had also offered me a flexible remote schedule so I could raise Maya without missing a single moment.
I walked over to the window and looked out at the street.
Dorothy’s house down the block had a giant "FOR SALE" sign plunged into the front lawn. After the neighborhood learned the truth, Dorothy and Brenda had become complete social pariahs. Unable to face the community's disgust, they were packing up and moving away to another state.
Tyler was gone too, reportedly living in a small rented room across the state line, working a low-level night shift job, completely isolated from his old friends and career.
I opened the front door and stepped out onto the porch with Maya in my arms. The morning air was crisp and clean.

I looked down at my baby girl, her clear blue eyes reflecting the bright blue morning sky. No more hidden thieves in the night. No more stolen sacrifices. No more lies.
I took a deep breath of fresh air, held my daughter tight against my chest, and smiled as we walked together into our new, bright future.
