Chapter 12 - The Guest List Becomes EvidenceAt midnight, the gala transformed into an interrogation hall.

No one was dragged.
No one was beaten.
No one was threatened.
They were simply invited to tell the truth before the footage told it for them.
That was far more effective.
People confessed in corners.
Not noble confessions.
Practical ones.
A banker admitted he had transferred hush money.
A magazine editor admitted she had killed Clara’s story.
A former police commissioner admitted he had classified complaints against Julian as “domestic misunderstandings.”
The charity gala had become a mirror.
And every powerful person hated what they saw.
I sat near the stage while a medic cleaned my lip.
My father stood beside me, silent.
“You planned for this,” I said.
“Not for you to be hurt.”
“But for everything else.”
He looked older suddenly.
“Yes.”
I watched Clara speaking with Agent Keene.
“How many?”
My father understood.
“How many women?”
He exhaled slowly.
“Seventeen confirmed. More suspected.”
My chest tightened.
Seventeen.
Seventeen lives reduced to settlements, threats, rumors, closed doors.
Julian had looked at me like I was his next easy silence.
Instead, he had opened a vault.
My father touched my shoulder.
“I should have told you sooner.”
“Yes,” I said.
He flinched.
“But tonight, we finish it.”
His eyes met mine.
May you like
For the first time, he looked at me not as the daughter he needed to protect—
but as the woman who would inherit his war.
