Chapter 11 - Isabella BreaksIsabella lasted thirty-six hours.

That was longer than Detective Cole expected and shorter than Vincent Rossi had hoped.
At first, she clung to the family script.
She was emotional.
She was provoked.
Khloe had threatened her.
Marcus had manipulated the footage.
Her father knew nothing.
Then the prosecutors showed her the boardroom recording.
Not the entire meeting.
Only one line.
Vincent’s voice: “Handle the wife. Quietly.”
Then they showed her another document.
A transfer from a Rossi-controlled account into an offshore trust under Isabella’s name.
Payment dated one day before the gala.
Memo line: Discretionary social intervention.
Isabella stared at it.
Her attorney whispered, “Do not speak.”
But Isabella was already unraveling.
Because now she understood.
Her father had not protected her.
He had paid her.
That meant he had planned to deny her.
If the truth came out, Vincent would say Isabella acted alone. Jealous. Obsessed. Unstable. A tragic embarrassment, yes, but not a conspiracy.
She would go down.
He would walk away.
Detective Cole leaned forward. “Isabella, your father is already preparing to separate himself from you.”
“That’s not true.”
Cole slid a printed statement across the table.
It was from Vincent’s legal team.
Ms. Rossi acted independently during a private emotional disturbance.
Isabella read it twice.
Her face went still.
Something inside her broke, but it was not remorse.
It was loyalty.
“My father told me Khloe was dangerous,” she said.
Her attorney closed his eyes.
“He said she was trying to steal control of Thorne Global through the baby. He said Marcus would lose everything if she gave birth before the trust issue was handled.”
Cole said nothing.
Isabella continued.
“He wanted me to scare her. Humiliate her. Make people think she was unstable. I wasn’t supposed to hurt the baby.”
Her voice cracked.
“I just wanted Marcus to see she didn’t belong.”
Cole’s eyes hardened. “And when Khloe fell?”
Isabella looked down.
“I panicked.”
“No,” Cole said. “You lied.”
Tears rolled down Isabella’s face.
This time, they were real.
Not because she regretted Khloe’s pain.
Because she finally saw the cage her father had built around her.
“I have recordings,” Isabella whispered.
Her attorney looked at her sharply.
“Isabella.”
She ignored him.
“My father records everyone. I started recording him too.”
Cole pushed a blank statement form toward her.
“Then start talking.”
At the hospital, Khloe watched the news from her bed.
Breaking developments.
Rossi Holdings under investigation.
Thorne Global emergency review.
Isabella Rossi cooperating with authorities.
Marcus muted the television.
Khloe looked at him. “Do you believe she’s sorry?”
Marcus did not hesitate.
“No.”
Khloe nodded.
Neither did she.
Some people confessed because the truth changed them.
Isabella confessed because the lie stopped protecting her.

There was a difference.
And Khloe would never forget it.
